NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. (AP) - A police chief says a man suspected in the drug-related killings of a western Pennsylvania couple was murdered himself the next day.

Nobody has yet been charged in the Aug. 21 shooting of 18-year-old Brian Hall, of Penn Hills.

But New Kensington police Chief Thomas Klawinski says investigators believe Hall shot 43-year-old John Russ, of New Kensington, and 28-year-old Shannon Bongartz, of Penn Hills, in front of Russ’ home the day before.

Klawinski says police believe Russ - who had an extensive criminal record - had stolen money and drugs from Hall before the shooting.

Hall was wanted in another shooting at the time of his death. Allegheny County police had charged him with attempted homicide and other crimes for a drug-related robbery and shooting in Wilkinsburg in May 2013.
