BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Visitors to a Burlington park will soon have a view unobstructed by power lines and utility poles that are being removed after 56 years.

Green Mountain Power says the lines are being removed from Waterfront Park. CEO Mary Powell says upgrades made to the transmission system throughout Chittenden County make it possible to operate reliably without the lines along the scenic waterfront.

Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger says the work enhances the beauty of the park and the northern waterfront for the enjoyment of the community and visitors.
