PHOENIX (AP) - A man convicted of in an attempted robbery on the Navajo Nation is going to federal prison.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Arizona said Wednesday that 33-year-old Windfield William Yazzie was sentenced to five years in prison.

The sentence was handed down in U.S. District Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Yazzie, of Tuba City, brandished a firearm while trying to rob the victim Feb. 25.

They say the victim managed to escape before the robbery was completed.

The FBI and the Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety investigated the case.
