CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A Harrison County magistrate faces charges of sexually abusing a girl under the age of 12.

Media outlets report that 60-year-old Mark Gorby of Bridgeport was arraigned Thursday following his arrest by West Virginia State Police.

Gorby is charged with five counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person in a position of trust. State police say Gorby forced sexual intercourse on the girl between 2005 and 2009.

Gorby’s lawyer, Belinda Haynie, says the allegations are false. She says the defense expects the magistrate to be exonerated.

Gorby’s case has been assigned to Putnam County Senior Magistrate Kim M. Blair.
