CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Point Pleasant man has been charged in a bogus investment scheme.

U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin says 40-year-old Mark Anthony was charged Wednesday in a federal information with stealing $210,000 from a Mason County couple. An information typically signals the defendant is cooperating with the investigation.

Goodwin says between 2004 and 2013, Anthony told the couple that he would invest their money in annuities and money market accounts. Instead, Anthony allegedly spent the money for his own use.

Goodwin says the husband died in 2007.
