NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Horry County officials want to add three first aid stations to some popular beaches near North Myrtle Beach.

County Councilman Brent Schulz told The Sun News of Myrtle Beach (https://bit.ly/1qUTtAY ) that the first aid stations would be staffed and would give people at the beach a place to get out of the sun and get treatment for minor problems.

The stations would be placed at the end of streets by the beach. Schulz says he has heard they are popular in Florida and California.

Officials will meet with North Beach Service Inc. about the stations. The company already provides lifeguards for the county.

County Council would have to approve any amended contract with North Beach Service.
