MONTAUK, N.Y. (AP) - The family of a Long Island businessman says he was found dead floating in the water near a marina he operated in Montauk.

Carl Darenberg owned Montauk Marine Basin.

His cousin, Debbie Tuma, tells Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1tUc3y0 ) he was discovered Monday morning off Uihlein’s Marina in Montauk Harbor.

East Hampton Town police say they are investigating.

The 64-year-old Darenberg spent his life in Montauk.

Tuma says he organized the area’s first seafood festival and ran the Old Timers’ Night honoring longtime Montauk fishermen.

Funeral services were incomplete.
