NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police are looking for a man suspected of attacking an 88-year-old woman as she sat on the front stoop of her Brooklyn home.

Police say a man in his 20s, dressed in a red sweatshirt, approached the victim at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the woman tried to go into her home when the suspect threw her to the ground, assaulted her, and tried to strangle her with his sweatshirt. He fled.

The woman is stable at a hospital.

Police are looking for any information leading to the man’s arrest.
