PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota’s next governor won’t be elected until Nov. 4, but the city of Pierre is already preparing for the inauguration.

The next inauguration is scheduled for Jan. 10. The festivities have traditionally included the swearing-in ceremony and one or two balls.

KCCR-AM reports that Mayor Laurie Gill has chosen Scott and Julia Jones to head the city’s Inaugural Committee again.

The station reports much of the details won’t be finalized until the winner is announced.

Republican Gov. Dennis Daugaard is being challenged by Democratic state Rep. Susan Wismer and independent candidate Mike Myers.
