LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A new website allows people to search a database that contains information about many of the plants and animals known to exist in Wyoming.

The Wyoming Biodiversity Citizen Science Initiative is a website launched about a month ago through the University of Wyoming’s Biodiversity Institute. The Laramie Boomerang reports (https://bit.ly/1tTXjiB ) the project has been a couple years in the making.

At the site, www.wyobio.org, people can search for information about plants and animals in Wyoming. People also can upload their own observations into an ever-growing collection of data.

The project also involved the Wyoming Natural Diversity Database and Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center.
