OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - The state Health Department says the suicide rate went up slightly from 2006 to 2012 in Washington.

The department says an average of three people a day commit suicide in Washington. It’s the eighth leading cause of death in the state.

The department notes this is national Suicide Prevention Week. People can get help by calling the suicide prevention hotline at 800-273-8255.
