SAN MATEO, Calif. (AP) - Police say three special needs students and their student teacher were injured in a San Francisco Bay Area neighborhood when a car veered onto a sidewalk and struck them.

The crash in San Mateo occurred around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

San Mateo police Sgt. Rick Decker tells the San Jose Mercury News (https://bit.ly/1smJkl1) the three high school students suffered minor injuries. The teacher, who is in her 20s, was more seriously injured, but is also expected to survive.
