CARROLLTON, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the cause of a blaze that killed a 4-year-old boy in Carroll County.

Carroll County Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Bud Bennifield said firefighters were able to rescue a teenager trapped in the burning home Tuesday. Inside, they discovered the boy’s body.

Bennifield said firefighters attacked the second-floor fire with hoses while other crew members and sheriff’s deputies got a ladder on the house to reach the 18-year-old girl. He said the boy’s body was found in the second-floor room where the fire is believed to have started.

Bennifield tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/WHN8k1) that the teenager and the 4-year-old boy’s mother were taken to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

Bennifield said three firefighters were also treated for minor burn injuries at the hospital
