LAKE GENEVA, Wis. (AP) - Authorities say two construction workers were hurt when a berm collapsed in Lake Geneva, burying the workers in dirt.

It happened about 10:40 a.m. Thursday below a bridge being built at an interchange project at U.S. 12 and Highway 50.

Lake Geneva Fire Capt. Mark Moller-Gunderson says firefighters and co-workers had to dig out the injured workers.

The Daily Reporter (https://bit.ly/1qKrGaR ) reports one of the workers was taken by ambulance to Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, while the other was flown by helicopter to Froedtert (FRAY’-durt) Hospital in Milwaukee with serious injuries.

Police and officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating,

The project is being overseen by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
