DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - A Decatur man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison in the death of an 8-month-old boy.

The Decatur Daily reports (https://bit.ly/1rYEhJr ) 23-year-old Orlandos Deloney pleaded guilty Thursday to manslaughter in the January 2013 death of Kobe Coffee.

Authorities have said the man kicked the child off a bed in his mother’s house and the boy died of lacerations to his liver. Investigators say the boy hit a nightstand after he was kicked.

Decatur police Sgt. George Silvestri says Deloney made up several stories about how the boy’s injuries happened, but none matched investigators’ theories on how the injuries could have occurred.
