PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has reopened beaches in Biloxi and Pass Christian that were closed earlier this week after sewage leaked into Mississippi Sound.

Officials tell WLOX-TV (https://bit.ly/1lYw4Td) the beaches between Beauvoir Road and Sadler Beach Drive in Biloxi and between Espy Avenue and Hayden Avenue in Pass Christian were closed Monday.

The problem was attributed to a malfunction at a lift station. The closing was lifted on Thursday.
