BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - Firefighters have been battling a large fire at an industrial building in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Fire officials said the blaze on Seaview Avenue on the city’s east side was reported just before 7 p.m. Thursday and still burned hours later.

No serious injuries have been reported. Two firefighters were taken to a hospital for heat-related illness.

Residents in nearby buildings were evacuated to a church, and about 1,500 homes were without power after that was shut off as a precaution. WFSB-TV reports (https://bit.ly/YBy9dv) about nine multifamily homes were evacuated because of heat and embers from the fire.

Fire officials say the building houses a roofing company and a recycled perfume factory. Officials said explosions heard in the blaze were related to the perfume company and a broken gas line. Employees had left before the fire broke out.
