CANTON, Miss. (AP) - An 18-year-old Jackson man, who pleaded guilty to an armed carjacking in Ridgeland, has been sentenced.

Madison County District Attorney Michael Guest tells The Clarion-Ledger (https://on.thec-l.com/1CWiXHh) Xavier Laquon Anderson was sentenced to 35 years in prison with eight years suspended. Anderson will be placed on five years of supervised probation following release.

On January 6, the Ridgeland police received a call about an armed carjacking in a parking lot off of Lake Harbour Dr.

Police say Anderson approached the female victim in the car, put a gun to her head and ordered her to get out of the car. The woman did as instructed and Anderson fled the scene with another car following behind.

Police found the vehicle in Jackson.

Police say fingerprints in the vehicle lead to Anderson’s arrest.
