NEW YORK CITY (AP) - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has taken to the road on his motorcycle to join police and firefighters in marking the 13th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.

The Democratic governor and his girlfriend, Sandra Lee, met with first responders at a firehouse on West 43rd Street on Thursday before they joined riders headed to the World Trade Center site. Cuomo rode his Harley Davidson Electra Glide that bears the number “56;” Cuomo is the state’s 56th governor.

The governor’s office says some 250 riders participated, some of them from as far away as Albany.

Cuomo also took part in last year’s commemorative ride, meant to honor the service and sacrifice of police officers and fire fighters who responded to the attacks.
