MILTON, Vt. (AP) - Crews have shut down part of U.S. Route 7 in Milton, Vermont, as they work to clear the road of multiple downed power lines after a tree fell.

The route was shut down at the intersection of Lake Road on Thursday morning. It was not known when it would be reopened.

Police said traffic heading south from Georgia will not be able to get through and will be turned around.

Traffic heading north on Route 7 from Milton is being turned around or diverted up Main Street. Traffic heading south on Lake Road is being turned around before the intersection.
