ST. LOUIS (AP) - The president of a St. Louis-area union local has been convicted of embezzling nearly $41,000 in union funds.

Anthony Davis was convicted Thursday following a five-day trial in U.S. District Court. It wasn’t clear if he would appeal. A phone message left with his attorney was not immediately returned.

Davis was president of Mail Handlers Local 314. The U.S. Attorney’s office says Davis used fake invoices to defraud the union of the money.

Davis, of O’Fallon, Illinois, was convicted of one count of embezzlement of labor union funds. Sentencing is Dec. 8.
