SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Missouri authorities have arrested a high school student who they say brought a loaded handgun to school that accidentally discharged.

Greene County prosecutors charged 18-year-old Larvern Hale on Wednesday with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, distributing or delivering marijuana and interfering with an arrest.

Court documents state a concerned parent previously told school officials that Hale posted on Facebook pictures of himself with the gun inside the Central High School bathroom. Authorities say Hale tried to pass the weapon to another student when it fell one story from a mezzanine and went off.

Hale surrendered peacefully Tuesday after a standoff with police.

He is being held at the Greene County Jail on $100,000 bond. Online records didn’t indicate an attorney.
