NEW ALBANY, Miss. (AP) - Upholstered furniture manufacturer Newport Home Furnishings is expanding its New Albany operations and adding 45 new jobs.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1lX1edt ) the company builds stationary and motion sofas, loveseats, chairs and recliners.

The company said Thursday the expansion was needed to accommodate increased sales.

The Mississippi Development Authority also provided financial help by funding the construction of an industrial access road that will serve Newport and the Glenfield Industrial Park in New Albany.

The Appalachian Regional Commission, Union County and the City of New Albany also provided assistance.
