MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (AP) - Baxter County authorities have charged a woman who they say smuggled drugs into the county jail that caused another inmate to overdose.

Sheriff John Montgomery says 22-year-old Andi Rush was charged Wednesday. He says an unnamed inmate was hospitalized Monday after she was found unconscious and barely breathing. Her condition in unclear.

Investigators say Rush was booked Monday to serve jail time for a prior conviction. They say she concealed the drugs in a body orifice that authorities were not allowed to search.

Montgomery says Rush admitted to smuggling the substance into the jail and giving it to the woman. Investigators believe the drug is Ecstasy but say Rush believes it to be heroin.

Rush’s bond is set at $25,000. Online jail records didn’t indicate an attorney.
