GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - A 51-year-old Brockton man has been sentenced to 17 1/2 years in prison for stabbing a younger man to death and keeping the victim’s body in a room at his house while pretending to help the victim’s family and law enforcement search for him.

The Great Falls Tribune reports (https://gftrib.com/1xTxeED ) David Lewis was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Brian Morris. Lewis pleaded guilty in May to second-degree murder in the Jan. 11 death of 21-year-old Armon Boyd.

Charging documents alleged Lewis and Boyd were intoxicated when they got into a fight and Lewis stabbed Boyd 19 times in the back and shoulder with a kitchen knife.

Court records say when Boyd was reported missing Lewis pretended to help with the search, at one point calling Boyd’s grandmother to see how the search was going.
