JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) - A Joint Base Lewis-McChord spokesman says fire crews have contained a garage blaze that broke out Thursday evening in a housing area at the base near Tacoma, Washington.

The News Tribune reports (https://is.gd/ZZnzUv) that JBLM spokesman John Norgren says the fire started in a detached garage and spread to a nearby awning. He says it appears to have caused minor damage to a home.

JBLM operations says a firefighter suffered minor injuries.

One vehicle in the 10-car garage was reported destroyed and another was damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
