LOUDON, N.H. (AP) - Gov. Maggie Hassan helped to kick off race week at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway by getting behind the wheel of a stock car herself.

Last year, the governor rode in the passenger seat of a NASCAR stock car. On Friday, she drove a 600 horsepower car along the speedway - after taking a safety class, of course. She drove eight laps, reaching a top speed of 101 mph.

Her test drive came a week before racers and crowds gather for the Sylvania 300 NASCAR weekend.
