JACKSON, La. (AP) - Authorities say an 18-year-old Jackson man accused of stealing 28 guns from a sporting goods store turned himself in several hours after the theft.

State Trooper Jared Sandifer says Braelin Whitfield was booked Wednesday with burglary and gun theft charges.

Sandifer says Whitfield was caught on surveillance footage entering the Thompson Creek Sporting Goods store in Jackson and stuffing several guns into a bag early Wednesday morning.

He says officers recovered 18 of the 28 weapons Whitfield is accused of stealing and are working to recover the other 10 firearms.

Sandifer said the case remains under investigation with more arrests possible.

It was unclear whether Whitfield has an attorney.
