HILO, Hawaii (AP) - Hawaii County Police say a 50-year-old Salt Lake City man died in a single-vehicle crash.

The man was killed Wednesday at Kohala Ranch. His name was not immediately released.

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald (https://bit.ly/1tHUvDd) reports police took a call on the crash at 4:05 p.m.

Police say the driver of a sport utility vehicle lost control at an intersection, veered off the right shoulder and crashed into a tree on Kohala Ranch Road within a private, gated subdivision.

He was rushed to North Hawaii Community Hospital and pronounced dead at 4:55 p.m.

Police say he was not wearing a seat belt.
