CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) - A 34-year-old man who acknowledged sexually assaulting a patient at a health care center in Englewood has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Paul Bugarcic, of Denver, was a certified nursing assistant at the Cherry Hills Health Care Center when prosecutors say he assaulted a patient who had suffered a brain injury and was only able to communicate with thumbs up or a peace sign.

Prosecutors say the victim’s parents placed an inconspicuous camera in her room to monitor her progress while they were away. One of the parents who reviewed the footage saw Bugarcic sexually assaulting the patient Jan. 2 and Jan. 7.
