NEW YORK (AP) - A Manhattan street corner has been named in memory of veteran broadcaster Stan Brooks.

Brooks was the first news director of the all-news 1010 WINS Radio. He died of cancer in December at the age of 86.

On Friday, elected officials hosted a ceremony renaming the corner of 43rd Street and Tenth Avenue “Stan Brooks Way.”

Brooks covered scores of national and local news stories, including the 1971 Attica Prison riot and 9/11.

He worked from City Hall and covered seven mayors as well as then-mayor-elect Bill de Blasio.
