PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a 19-year-old man was fatally shot when he attempted to rob another man of medical marijuana.

Sgt. Trent Crump says the men had arranged to meet at a park Thursday night so the 19-year-old man could purchase medical marijuana from a 54-year-old man.

According to Crump, the 54-year-old man shot the 19-year-old several times when the 19-year-old pulled out a gun when he was asked to show his medical marijuana card.

The 19-year-old man returned fire but only hit the other man’s vehicle.

Investigators interviewed the 54-year-old man and several other people who were in the park, and Crump says nobody was arrested pending a review of the case.

No identifies have been released.
