ODESSA, Texas (AP) - Police have jailed a West Texas man who they say led officers on a chase through Odessa.

Odessa police have charged 18-year-old Alex Hernandez with evading arrest. He was also booked on two misdemeanor warrants for failure to attend school.

Police say officers engaged Hernandez on Tuesday for driving recklessly. They say he crashed into another vehicle before leaving his vehicle and attempting to flee on foot.

Police say two female passengers also fled his vehicle. They were detained and released.

No injuries were reported.

Hernandez is being held at the Ector County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond. Online records didn’t indicate an attorney.
