DOVER, Del. (AP) - A former Kent County sheriff has been found guilty of felony stalking.

The Delaware State News ( ) reports that James Higdon faces up to two years in prison for the stalking conviction, which stems from an April 2012 arrest on a DUI charge.

At the time of the arrest, he was wanted for a probation violation. Higdon had been arrested the previous year as well, when he barricaded himself inside his home after allegedly violating a protection-from-abuse order by contacting his former wife.

Higdon served as Kent County’s sheriff for 16 years and four terms. He was defeated in a November 2010 election.
