IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) - Targhee National Forest officials are planning a prescribed burn southwest of Swan Valley in eastern Idaho.

Forest officials say the burn in an area covering 1,000 acres will attempt to restore aspen stands.

The Idaho Falls Post Register reports ( ) the burn is scheduled to take place in mid to late September.

The fires could burn for several days and create smoke that could drift into the Swan, Teton and Star valleys of eastern Idaho and western Wyoming.
