CLEVELAND (AP) - Ohio’s state auditor and two challengers are preparing to meet in one of the few statewide candidate faceoffs scheduled this year.

Republican Auditor Dave Yost debates two political rivals - Democratic state Rep. John Patrick Carney and Libertarian Bob Bridges - at The City Club of Cleveland Monday.

Since his election in 2010, Yost has taken on the issue of school attendance tampering and ruffled Republican feathers by subpoenaing records of the state’s privatized job creation entity, JobsOhio, for a state audit.

Carney, a third-term lawmaker from Columbus, has criticized Yost for “actively ignoring” his regulatory role against cheating and misconduct at problem charter schools, a charge Yost disputes.

Carney has consistently outraised Yost in recent reporting periods, but Yost has more in the bank headed November’s election.
