BARCELONA, Spain (AP) - Barcelona says midfielder Sergi Roberto has agreed to sign a contract extension that will keep him at the Spanish club until the end of the 2018-19 season.

The Catalan club said that the midfielder will put pen to paper on his new deal on Sept.26 with a buyout clause worth €40 million ($51.8 million).

The 22-year-old debuted for Barcelona’s first team in the 2010-11 season. He made 27 appearances last season.

His current contract was set to expire in 2015.
