AZTEC, N.M. (AP) - Authorities in northwestern New Mexico say a 7-year-old boy is hospitalized in critical condition after being accidentally run over by a farm tractor driven by his father.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office says the man’s two sons late Tuesday were playing a field where the father was using a front-end loader to spread mulch.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the father lost sight of the boys and thought they’d gone into the house.

However, the other son then alerted his father that the 7-year-old had fallen and been run over by the tractor’s rear wheels.

The boy is hospitalized in Albuquerque.

Identities weren’t released.
