CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) - Clovis police are investigating an officer’s use of force during an Aug. 3 traffic stop and arrest.

Police Chief Steve Sanders announced Wednesday that the department began a formal internal affairs investigation following a preliminary inquiry that included reviews of reports and an accompanying incident video.

Sanders says the officer’s supervisors began the inquiry as a result of routine reviews of the officer’s incident reports and reporting of use of force.

According to Sanders, the subject of the Aug. 3 arrest didn’t make a complaint.

He says no further information will be released until the matter is fully investigated and its resolution decided.
