SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Salt Lake City police say they arrested an aggressive panhandler who attacked a person in a McDonald’s drive-thru and hit a vehicle with his guitar.

Authorities say the incident happened a little before 7 p.m. Tuesday at the business on 210 West and 500 South.

A caller reported the man was approaching vehicles at the restaurant and starting hitting a car when the people inside refused to give him money. Police say the man opened one of the car doors and assaulted a female passenger.

Officials say the panhandler ran off when a security guard intervened, and police found him nearby.

He was booked on several charges including aggravated assault and resisting arrest.

The person who was assaulted was treated for minor injuries.
