CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say a man was shot to death when an altercation broke out during a home invasion.

According to investigators, 44-year-old Michael Angelo Crawford was shot to death shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday at his home on the city’s east side.

Police said two people forced their way into the home and confronted the residents. Investigators said there was an altercation, and one of the suspects shot Crawford. Authorities said the two suspects then fled.

Detectives canvassed the neighborhood to see if there were any other witnesses. The detectives also said they are trying to determine whether the suspects knew the victims.
