COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - One of Colorado Springs’ oldest businesses is closing after 110 years.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reported Thursday (https://tinyurl.com/oy25c3b ) a dry cleaner and self-service laundry called Couture’s (koo-TOORS’) Fabric Care will cease operations next month.

Third-generation owner Keith Peterson says he wants to try something new.

County records show Peterson and his father, Carl Peterson Jr., sold the property to nearby Colorado College for $900,000 in 2012.

College spokeswoman Leslie Weddell says the building will be used for offices and storage while Tutt Library is being remodeled. The school hasn’t yet settled on a long-term for the site.

The business opened in 1904. Keith Peterson’s grandfather, Carl Peterson Jr., bought it in 1918.
