BALTIMORE (AP) - Prosecutors say three Baltimore correctional officers have been charged with assaulting several inmates in what they describe as retaliation for an attack on a fellow officer.

The Baltimore State’s Attorney’s Office says Sgt. Kwasi Ramsey, Sgt. Jemiah Green and Officer Richard Hanna were indicted on Wednesday.

The officers are accused of administering attacks on at least five inmates, some of whom were allegedly involved in a September 2013 attack on an officer at the Maryland Reception, Diagnostics and Classification Center in Baltimore.

Prosecutors say the inmates suspected of attacking the officer were charged and relocated. Prosecutors say the officers moved from cell to cell kicking and punching the inmates using handcuffs, radios and mace.

Prosecutors say that Green was also charged in a different assault, along with another officer.
