HUNDREDS OF OFFICERS EXPECTED AT TROOPER’S FUNERAL AS SEARCH FOR ASSASSIN CONTINUES

Gov. Tom Corbett plans to attend today’s funeral at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton for state police Cpl. Bryon Dickson. Police believe the married, 38-year-old father of two was gunned down Friday by Eric Frein, a survivalist who is said to hate the police.

NEWLYWEDS WHO LURED MURDER VICTIM WITH CRAIGSLIST AD SET FOR SENTENCING

Nineteen-year-old Miranda Barbour and her 22-year-old husband, Elytte, pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder in a plea deal that took the death penalty off the table. They’ll both receive mandatory life sentences without parole today. Elytte Barbour told police the couple wanted to kill someone together.

WHAT RECOVERY?

New census figures show the nation’s reported economic recovery has been slow to reach the Philadelphia metropolitan area, as residents move away and mid-wage jobs decrease. Still, Philadelphia ranked 11th in income among the 25 largest metro areas - ahead of Los Angeles, Dallas and Atlanta.

CHEVRON FIRST COMPANY TO MEET NEW SET OF VOLUNTARY SHALE GAS DRILLING STANDARDS

The Pittsburgh-based Center for Sustainable Shale announced the accomplishment today. The center is a partnership between major energy companies, environmental groups and charitable foundations. Its certification process consists of an independent review of Chevron documents and 22 of its production sites in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

As a result, the school will be name for Thomas R. Kline, the Philadelphia lawyer behind the gift. Drexel’s law school opened in 2006 and now has 400 students.
