ESCANABA, Mich. (AP) - The world’s best anglers are in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula for an annual tournament.

The Bassmaster Angler of the Year Championship gets underway on Thursday at Bays de Noc in Escanaba.

The top 50 in Angler of the Year point standings are eligible to compete.

In addition to $900,000 in prize money, at stake is the title of 2014 Bassmaster Angler of the Year.

The field includes 2013 Angler of the Year Aaron Martens and 2014 Bassmaster Classic champion Randy Howell.

The final weigh-in will take place Sunday afternoon at Ludington Park.

A number of activities related to the tournament are planned for the weekend, including the Bassmaster Expo with national vendors; and Bassmaster University, a series of seminars featuring professional anglers.
