BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) - Political novelist and satirist Christopher Buckley is delivering a lecture in Maine.

Buckley is set to deliver the 5th annual George and Barbara Bush Distinguished Lecture Thursday evening at the University of New England in Biddeford.

Buckley served as speech writer for George H.W. Bush when he was vice president. Bush, who went on to become president, is expected to attend with first lady Barbara Bush.

Buckley, who’s the son of conservative author and commentator William F. Buckley Jr., has written 16 books including New York Times best-sellers like “The White House Mess” and “Thank You for Smoking.”
