EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - The Lane County Board of Commissioners has approved a three-year contract with deputies from the sheriff’s office.

The Register-Guard newspaper reports (https://is.gd/dLMv1u ) the last contract expired in July 2013, and the deal followed almost 18 months of talks.

The contract grants deputies cost-of-living pay increases in all three years: a 0.5 percent raise retroactive to July 2013, plus a 1.5 percent raise this fiscal year and a 2 percent raise in 2015-16.

The deal will add $1.5 million to the county’s employee costs over the length of the contract.

The Lane County Peace Officers’ Association previously voted to ratify the deal.
