WESTLAKE, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police say a head-on crash in southwest Louisiana has killed a 27-year-old man from Greenville, South Carolina.

Sgt. James Anderson says 21-year-old Jeremy Allen Reynolds, of Westlake, was booked with negligent homicide in the death Wednesday of Richard Ravenell.

Reynolds remained in jail Thursday. It was not clear whether he had a lawyer.

Anderson says Reynolds also was booked with reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and failing to secure his load.

A news release Thursday said investigators found that Reynolds’ 1990 pickup truck ran off eastbound Interstate 10 twice near Westlake, then crossed the median and hit Ravenell’s 2014 Ford.

Earlier, says Anderson, the truck’s bed cover came off and two eastbound vehicles collided trying to avoid it. He says nobody was hurt in that accident.
