CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Five grants totaling nearly $300,000 are heading to a paid, on-the-job training program for students in technical programs.

The grants were announced Wednesday by the Community and Technical College System of West Virginia. They were awarded through the Learn and Earn Program.

The program provides training with pay for students seeking high-skill employment.

The funding was awarded to Gestamp and BridgeValley Community and Technical College, DuPont and West Virginia University at Parkersburg, and Advanced Technical Solutions and Mountwest Community and Technical College, among others.

The funding will support training in information technology, chemical polymer disciplines and machine tool technology.
