SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - An 83-year-old Utah man has pleaded guilty to murder in the death of his stepdaughter in southern Utah in July.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (bit.ly/1uXSC67) that Nathan Zimmerman acknowledged as part of a plea deal he accepted this week that he fatally shot his stepdaughter, 57-year-old Janet Colleen Goode.

Zimmerman told investigators he fired one shot at Goode’s chest on July 10 as she approached his house in the small city of Parowan in southern Utah. He said he had no remorse.

It’s not clear what his motive was, though court records show Zimmerman’s wife filed for divorce the day of the shooting.

Zimmerman faces 15 years to life in prison. He will be formally sentenced on Nov. 4.
